Heavy Metal L-Gaim MK-II A-Class HCM #14 1/144 scale Bandai 1984

I bought the Heavy Metal L-Gaim HCM Mk-IIduring my 2004 Japan trip.  I had the original HI Metal deluxe version that I had bought during my 1985 visit to Japan and I wanted to compare the two.  The HCM version looks a little different  but the concept is the same.  Of course, the HCM version is much smaller than the deluxe version. I will post the deluxe version once I have dusted it off.

High Complete Model YMS-09 Zions Mobile Suit Prototype Dom Gundam by Bandai Japan 1984

HCM’s are great little robots. The YMS-09 Dom is by far one of the better ones. I got tired of the white original Gundam armor so the Prototype Dom is a welcome relief. I like the Zions armor as they have more variety. They look more like tanks, heavy armor. More sinister. I love picking up these HCM”s from the 80’s. I eventually want to pick up the Vifam or Neofam HCM’s. Not sure if they are Gundam robots, but I like them.

I love displaying my robots except for all the dusting. What a pain. The HCM packaging is ideal for taking a robot out and putting it away for display purposes. Small box, instructions, decent size and pretty good detail for someone like me who really does not want to have to build one of these from scratch. Been there, done that. None of them came out very good. Even my cousin built one and he is super anal. It did not come out very well, but I think Gundam models are harder to build than they look.

Here is my MS-14C Gelgoog Cannon Zion’s Mobile Suit. I can’t tell if these are the original HCM’s from the 80’s or the 2002 reissue.

Just used a magnifying glass on the back of the robot and it says Bandai Made in Japan 1984. I am going with 1984. Sweet! For what I paid I was sure it was a reissue.

High Complete Model RMS-106 Hi Zack 1/144 Z Gundam HCM 18 by Bandai Japan

Sorry, these are my first pictures using my old iPhone 4. That yellowing in the image really bugs me. I will get back to this and add some nice pictures. The RMS-106 Hi Zack is an awesome little robot. Perfect to add to your Gundam collection. It’s got a cool gladiator design and the color schemed really works as a military robot. The military green reminds me of the old Humvee I road around in when I was in still in the military. I dig the shoulder spike and red boot rockets. The yellow accents on the vents and tubes provide a nice contrast. I like Zaku’s more than the standard Gundams. Like say the RX-78. I can’t imagine designing a robot with a white, blue and red color scheme. I would almost say this robot design is influenced by the Votoms Scopedog. It is a much better looking robot, than the Scopedog though. The Scopedog looks like an old fashioned diving suit, the Hi Zack looks like a war machine.

The RMS-106 Hi Zack is from the High Complete Model Line or HCM were essentially completed models of anime robots usually Gundam, aimed at younger children or adults who did not have the time or skill to make model kits in the 1980’s. Looks like a new line of High Complete Models came out in the mid to late 2000’s called the HCM Pro which look amazing.

So I finally got around to putting up some new pictures of the RMS-106 Hi Zack. I never did figure out when this figure was made. I was thinking 80’s or maybe this is a early 2000’s reissue. I wish I could read a little Japanese. You have to be a little careful with these HCM’s. They are more like models than action figures. I broke the plastic clip on the backpack as I took it off after taking pictures

If the HCM was not cool enough, the robots come with a cool little profile card and instruction booklet as well.

High Complete Model M100 Shiki MSN-00100 1-144 HCM 23 Z Gundam Japan 1985

This is the M100 Shiki MSN-00100. Bandai 1985 Made in Japan H. C. M. Series 23 This is the first HCM box I have seen with an actual date. I really like the design of this robot, but the color really doesn’t work for me. Maybe if this was more the color of a construction truck it would work, but this yellow is terrible. I am sure others feel the same, as this one really was not that hard to get and was relatively affordable(nobody wants it).

Yeah, I know it is almost the same as the last one, but this image is clearer and I am too lazy to take a new picture.

So these are the first pictures I took before I refined my technique a little. Still kinda sucky, I need to get a tripod.

The new pictures are a little better. They don’t have the yellow tinge.

This is the High Complete Model MS-062R-2. I picked up all my HCM’s on eBay. I am going to have to come back and take some better pictures for these. These are terrible. I took them with my iPhone and now I wish I hadn’t. I always get this yellowish tinge on my photos.

Let’s talk about what doesn’t suck. I love this Zaku in red. It really kicks ass. It is a much better red than I have seen in the more recent Bandai MSIA releases in 2001-2003. The size and detail on these are preferable to the 4.5″ Zaku’s that came out with the Cartoon Network Toonami. This is probably my favorite HCM. The High Complete Model(HCM) were essentially completed models of anime robots usually Gundam, aimed at younger children or adults who did not have the time or skill to make model kits. Basically, me LOL.

I just added these images of the High Complete Model MS-062R-2 and they are much better than what I had up before.  It really shows off how nice this figure is. This is one of those really cool 80’s robots.
