Here’s Soundwave, one of the G1 Transformers I never had as a kid.  I had a loose one at some point but traded it.  This re-issue comes with two of the Decepticon tapes – “Laserbeak” and “Ravage.”  This is the Soundblaster version. Soundwave is upgraded to Soundblaster in later iterations of the cartoon.

I bought this in Japan at Mandarake, Akihabara branch for 52 dollars. If I were to buy him here, he’d be double the price, maybe more since I never saw him at Toys R Us when these were re-issued in the early 2000’s. I haven’t put any of the stickers because I’m afraid they will come off over time.

We are now DXrobo.com

Hi, everyone.

We just completed a move from my old domain Xplorecyber.org to DXrobo.com. We have modified our site title from Henson Robo to DX Robo. So make sure you bookmark our new location. It took a lot longer than I thought. I have not written a new post for a while, but my cousin has added his new purchases up on the site every few weeks. I will probably work on his updating those posts before I continue with my collection.

You may see some weird things as I experiment with new themes/templates. I have been going over my old posts and have added videos, pictures, and text. So please go an check out my older posts! I am going to start putting out a Robot of the Week so there is always something fun and new on the site. If my cousin keeps buying new robots, you might not see one of mine for a while. So keep reading and Enjoy your visit to DXrobo.com!

Optimus Prime

Optimus Prime. This is the guy everyone wanted to have from this series. The robot was true to the cartoon, looked good as a robot, and looked just as awesome as a truck. You could have fun with it either way. So much the opposite of Megatron. Crappy robot, ok looking gun. I have never wanted to have the original G1 Megatron as part of my collection. I know I have a few different versions of Optimus here. I finally found I have two Optimus robots, but neither are the original G1 Optimus. After digging around, I have found a Robots in Disguise Laser Optimus Prime 1995, a Machine Wars Optimus Prime 1996, G2 Optimus Prime Hero, and Robots in Disguise Optimus Prime 2001. If I keep digging, I may find another, if not I really like the Platinum Optimus I saw at Toys R Us today, but it may have to wait for the Platinum Starscream which looks amazing!. I will post them once I manage to get some pictures. Here are a few different versions of him that are posted on the site.

My Vintage Price List

I was going through my old paperwork and I stumbled upon my old, handwritten notes from my childhood. I forgot I kept an price list of what I paid for each robot. I’m going to go back to each of these robots and note the cost of what I originally paid as well. Listed are my Takatoku Valkyries, Takara Votoms & Popy Chogokin, Tonka Gobots and Mattel Shogun Warrior robots.

Reflector Transformers G1

Here’s a loose version of the Decepticon camera – “Reflector.” This is another one I never had as a kid but I was fortunate to pick him up loose for under 30 dollars. The color scheme in the toy looks different from the cartoon as the cartoon shows him as purple/green.

Jetfire Transformers

Jetfire Transformers Generation 1 Autobot Hasbro 1985

Here’s a picture of Jetfire – the Autobot air guardian.  He looks dramatically different from the cartoon.  He’s basically the same jet as the “Macross” series as they used the same mold. My cousin lent this one to me so that I could display it with the rest of the Macross collection.  I recall he had this as a kid but I don’t know if this is the original one – he may have re-purchased this one later on.

Transformers Collection

Robot Collection - Gundam and Transformers on my TV stand

Robot Collection – Gundam and Transformers

Hopefully the pictures come out ok (might be some daytime glare/flash glare) but here’s my display of all of my Transformers.  To the left of the t.v. you’ll see the Insecticons, Ultra Magnus (White Optimus Prime), Shockwave.  To the right of the TV, you’ll see the 3 280ZX cars (Smokescreen, Prowl, Silverstreak), Hoist, Trailbreaker, Grapple, Inferno, and Blaster.  One the 2nd shelf, you’ll see my four Dinobots.  I’m still looking for the Swoop (the Petradactyl) and the rest of the G1 Autobot cars for my Transformers Collection.  The bottom shelf has my collection of the 6 Decepticon planes.  Evidently, there is one more called Sunstreaker (he’s yellow) but I’ve never seen him as a child but I have seen recent versions of him.

So my pictures were so bad, I decided to get a few more that were still pretty bad. Oh well, at least they were not as blurry!

Perceptor – Transformers G1

Here’s another new one I just got and another one I never had as a kid – Perceptor – the Autobot scientist. I picked him up for 30 dollars and I’m quite happy with him as he’s mostly complete and he has very little wear. I would have picked him up as a kid but they just kept pumping out Transformers and I couldn’t keep up!

Whirl Transformers 1985 Generation 1

Here’s a new one that I just got from Ebay – loose – “Whirl.”  This one was never in the cartoon and he’s originally part of the “Dorvack” cartoon and was originally released by Takatoku Toys. The other robots in this series were “Mugen Calibur” (re-released as “Roadbuster” for the Transformers) and Tulcas (which was not released as a Transformer).

I’ve never had a great love for Whirl, but since I already had Mugen Calibur/Roadbuster – I thought it would be cool to have the set. Plus, he’s rare and when I saw him for 30 dollars, I thought it was a fair price.

I am trying to figure out if I want to use qTranslate, Multilingual Press, or Transposh. Maybe just Google Translate for now until I know which one works best.

After reviewing the translators, I just went quick and dirty. I added the Google Translator tool after all, even though I really wanted to use qTranslate. It was the quickest and easiest to add. I will try adding qTranslate later. I added Chinese, Dutch, Filipino, French, German, Indonesian, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Malay, Portuguese, Russian, Spanish, Swedish, Thai and Vietnamese to the translator drop down menu for our most common visitors.
