Dinobot Sludge Transformers G1 -1984

Here’s one of the three Transformers Dinobots purchased in 1984 at the long defunct Service Merchandise catalog showrooms. This one is the Generation 1 Dinobot Sludge.

Here is my collection of Dinobots. I am only missing Swoop. I am still looking for a good used version of him. Most pieces I have seen have issues, so I still don’t have one yet.

Dinobot Snarl – Tranformers G1 1984

I decided to create separate posts for the Dinobots. This one is Dinobot Snarl.  I purchased Snarl in 1984 from Service Merchandise which was a catalog showroom store.   Basically, you’d go to the store, look in a catalog and someone would bring out the item to you. I picked up several of my Generation 1 Transformers there.

Live Robo and Five Robo – 1988 from Liveman & Fiveman Super Sentai shows

Here are two Super Sentai robots – the yellow one is Liveman Live Robo and the blue one is Fiveman Five Robo. They are about 19 cm or 7.5 inches. These are my cousin’s – he likes the Sentai stuff but I never really got into them (except for the ones that came out as Godaikins).  They are both entirely made of plastic and pleasantly were both still made in Japan. I’ve attached images of what they looked like on their respective shows.

Master Gundam MSIA 2004 Bandai America

Another one from the Mobile Fighter G Gundam anime series as part of the Toonami releases, this time Master Gundam from Neo Hong Kong. This is one of the better looking ones from this series. It came out in 2004.

Haow Gundam 2002 – G Gundam Neo Hong Kong

While I didn’t get into the G Gundam series, I really like the robots in this series as they broke the typical Gundam mold by showing representations of different nations.

This one is the Haow Gundam aka Kowloon Gundam piloted by Master Asia of Neo Hong Kong Toho Fuhai

Brutishdog Votoms 1984 Takara

Another robot from the Votoms series that I purchased during my Japan trip in 1985.  This one is the Brutish Dog from Takara. Guess they made more than just Transformers.  According to my recently found list, I purchased this for 8 dollars. Brutishdog Votoms

Red Shoulder Scopedog – Votoms 1984 Takara

The Takara Red Shoulder Scopedog is another robot that I bought during my Japan trip in July, 1985. According to my recently found list, I purchased this for 16 dollars.   There was this version (to denote the elite red shoulders unit), the basic Scopedog and the red Brutish Dog.

Chirico Cuvie’s Red Shoulder Scopedog ATM-09-RSC – 1984 Takara 1/24 scale from anime Soukou Kihei VOTOMS 1983-1984

As you can see, he’s quite well armed with a rifle, rocket launcher and gatling gun.  To me, this series was much more realistic than Gundam because I could really see people controlling these robots On a side note, I searched the net and it appears that they are issuing other Votoms toys as well, which is cool because I wanted to see the other mecha as toys but I only saw them as model kits.   Here is the episode credits for the original series Armored Trooper VOTOMS(装甲騎兵ボトムズ) from 1983-1984.

Mega Size Dragon Gundam 2002 Bandai

This is a Bandai Mega Size Dragon Gundam representing Neo China.  I can’t remember where I bought this but I believe I bought this in Portland on the way to my cousin’s wedding in 2002.

Z Gundam Hand Book AM JuJu 1985

I had this book from the 80’s because even back then, I was into Gundam although I didn’t realize how many series it would spawn.  I bought this Z Gundam Hand Book at Kinokuniya Bookstore in Japantown 1986.

I bought the Heavy Metal L-Gaim HCM Mk-IIduring my 2004 Japan trip.  I had the original HI Metal deluxe version that I had bought during my 1985 visit to Japan and I wanted to compare the two.  The HCM version looks a little different  but the concept is the same.  Of course, the HCM version is much smaller than the deluxe version. I will post the deluxe version once I have dusted it off.
