This is a re-issue that I purchased in the early 2000’s. It is the Prowl Commemorative Series IV which was a Toys R’ Us exclusive in 2003. I’ve added a still image from the Transformers cartoon. I remember this would come on right after Star Blazers and I would make sure to hurry home so that I could watch these shows.

Here’s Silverstreak that I purchased from Service Merchandise in 1984. Service Merchandise was a catalog showroom store where you looked through a catalog and you picked the item you wanted and they would bring it out to you, although for the toys, they were accessible on the shelves. I bought almost all of my original G1 Transformers from this store.

Behind Silverstreak is Inferno. I bought him in japan in 1985. Silverstreak is more often known as Bluestreak.

Tetsujin 28 ST GB-23 by Popy 1980

Tetsujin 28 is one of my favorite robots.  I bought the Tetsujin 28 ST on Ebay 2003 for 200 dollars which I thought was steep for and ST sized robot. But fast forward 10 years later and Tetsujin 28 rarely comes up for sale at any price and if they do, they’re easily 1000+ for the DX version.

Actually, I had never seen this ST version.  Although I had wanted the Popy or Godaikin DX version, I’m quite happy with having some sort of representation of this robot.  The current re-issues unfortunately are either plastic OR look like the original cartoon back in the 50’s instead of the robot from the new anime The New Adventures of Gigantor or New Tetsujin-28 that came out in 1980-1981.

Deluxe Gundam MK-II Mobile Suit RX-78 1985

This one, I recall buying in a small toy store in Kyoto, Japan. This was my very first Gundam. I grew to love this series immediately as there were so many different mecha (compared to Macross). I don’t recall seeing the Zakus at the time but they may have been in the unfamiliar-to-me-at-the-time  or HCM format rather than a toy like this one. I have also placed its replacement – the 12″ Deluxe Nu Gundam from Char’s Counterattack next to it as comparison. I also have a small booklet that I purchased from Kinokuniya book store. I might also have a VHS tape as well. You can now watch episodes on Youtube.

Here is another Gundam MSIA purchased in Asia. This is the Bandai Mobile Suit in Action!! Dozzle Zabi Use MS-06F Zaku II that came out in 2004. This is the Zaku II piloted by Dozle Zabi.

I really liked this series because we never got the Zaku’s in the U.S. and I just loved all the different models and colors they came in. Below is the actual toy and its cartoon version.  I’m not sure which series this one was in – I’m going to say it was Gundam 0079.

Gundam MSIA Rick Dias RMS-099 2003

Here’s a Mobile Suit In Action!! (MSIA) Rick Dias RMS-099 figure that came out in 2003. I purchased this from either Toy Kingdom in the Philippines or in Tokyo.  I love these figures as the U.S. didn’t get the other robots from the Gundam series other than the Gundams themselves. I just felt there were so many mechas in the various Gundam series that we never got to see.

Galatt DX Hicompact Model Jumbow 1985

This is a robot I bought on a trip to japan in 1985. According to my recently found notes, I purchased the Galatt DX for 13 dollars.  I wasn’t familiar with this series but I have seen some clips of him. It appears to be a spoof about the whole super robot genre as a whole. It was generally my practice to get pretty much any robot that I saw in a toy store (even if I didn’t know the series).

Daidenjin Godaikin 1984

Here’s a Daidenjin Godaikin which I purchased from a little shop in Japantown, San Francisco in 1984. I bought quite a few robot figures/toys from that store. The owner retired sometime in the early 2000’s. I added a picture of what he looks like in his Super Sentai show. I think this is the Japanese DaiDenzin GB-14 DX by Popy instead of the Godaikin version, as the shop in Japantown only sold Japanese robots. This one is another robot with heavy diecast metal content, which makes it another awesome Chogokin robot.
