VF-1A – Macross

Here’s two variants of the VF-1A model – the red/black version from the “Do You Remember Love?” Macross movie and the brown version from the Macross series.  I purchased the red/black version on a trip to Japan in 1985 and the brown version (the first one I received for my Macross collection) I received as a Christmas present in 1984. The brown version was 70 dollars back in Dec 84.  The red/black version was purchased for about 20 dollars back in 1985.

VF-1S Strike and VF-1S Roy Fokker – Macross

Below are the two variants of the VF-1S – the “Strike Valkyrie” and the “Roy Fokker” model from the Macross series.  The Roy Fokker model skull and crossbones insignia is actually modeled from an actual U.S. Navy squadron – VFA-103 “The Jolly Rogers.” The VF-1S “Strike Valkyrie” is from Bandai while the VF-1S “Roy Fokker” is from Takatoku Toys.  I believe I purchased the “Roy Fokker” model in Hong Kong in 1983.  During my last trip to Hong Kong in 2011, I tried to look for toy stores in the malls but there just didn’t seem to be same amount of volume that I remembered.  It’s also possible that these stores are now for adults like me and maybe in less traveled/less touristy areas. Both VF-1S and the Strike Valkyrie, I purchased in Japan 1985 for 20 dollars each.

Here’s the Bandai VF-1S Strike Valkyrie as piloted by Hikaru Ichijyo in “Do You Remember Love?” Macross movie in 1984.  I purchased him in Kyoto, Japan 1985. You don’t see this one until the climatic ending of the movie.

Perceptor – Transformers G1

Here’s another new one I just got and another one I never had as a kid – Perceptor – the Autobot scientist. I picked him up for 30 dollars and I’m quite happy with him as he’s mostly complete and he has very little wear. I would have picked him up as a kid but they just kept pumping out Transformers and I couldn’t keep up!

Trailbreaker Transformers G1

Here’s a loose Trailbreaker Transformers G1 that I just picked up on Ebay.  I had this as a kid but probably traded him.  He’s missing the fists but that’s ok.  I now have both Ford Bronco trucks.  The other robot that shares the same mold is Hoist (the green robot below)

Red Alert and Sideswipe – Transformers Generation 1

These are original from the 80’s.  I got Red Alert in Japan along with Inferno.  I thought they made a good set since they were both firefighters.  I also have a G2 Sideswipe and Sunstreaker.  I now have all 4 Lamborghinis.

Wheeljack – 1984 Transformers Generation 1

I believe this is one of the original Hasbro Wheeljack purchased either at Service Merchandise or The Treasury in 1984. I have had this one a long time.

Here’s the three original planes – Thundercracker, Starscream, and Skywarp.  Starscream is a clone that I bought at the fair back in 1985 or so.  I had some extra Decepticon stickers and slapped it on him. I think this was Taiwan version by Kingdam. A knock off of the Diaclone version before the Transformers came out.

Daitetsujin DX – 1984

Below is a loose Daitetsujin DX that I traded from one of my cousin’s friends. He was terrible at keeping all the parts and since he played with them, the joints are all loose. I am not a stickler for condition or having the box like my cousin is. Still, I’m glad to have him since he’s an 80’s Bandai Godaikin. My cousin has a better version (also posted on this site here) in box. The image on the right is how he appeared in his show.

This is the 2nd robot I bought and as usual, from Japantown.  I vividly remember going to that store almost 3x a month just to scope out what he had and I’d inevitably come out with a wish list.  I think I got into Godaikins because of this guy.  I also have the big DX version.
