Here’s the last of the Decepticon jets – “Sunstorm.”  This was never issued originally with the G1 robots in 1984 even though he appeared in the first episode of the Generation 1 cartoon.  I think I have all 7 of the Seekers now, unless there are others I do not know about. The Hasbro Masterpiece Sunstorm just came out, but the colors are awful. This will be the only Sun-storm in my collection, unless they make a nicer one.

This is another one I got in Akihabara, Japan. This appears to be made by e-Hobby a store affiliated with TakaraTomy that has made several exclusive Transformers redecos.

Shockwave Action Masters 1990 Hasbro

The Shockwave Action Masters is a robot in the line of Transformers that does not transform(weird right?) and is meant to look like the robot in the Generation 1 cartoon. The nice thing about these robots is they really do look as close as any toys to their source material. Many of the Generation 1 robots look nothing like the cartoon. The Megatron figure comes to mind. The Hero Mashers Transformers line in 2014 reminds me of the Actions Masters, except the Mashers are larger and more posable. Shockwave is about 4 inches and looks like he just jumped out of the cartoon. Some of the colors are off, but it really does not hurt this figure. This Shockwave is a bit beat up, so no poses as it can barely stand. It is leaning on the back of the cabinet. I need a nice minty new one so I can see if they can pose and stand without issues.

I picked up Shockwave at a local comic book store. They had a bunch of loose Transformers and I had never seen the Action Masters before. They looked super cool and I really liked the idea. I am surprised it took them 5 years to get around to it.

Polyfect Toys Construction 7″ combiner robots

This is Construction(lamest name ever, right?). I found this combiner robot at Danny’s Carwash 6 years ago. Aside from the robot’s name and brand Polyfect Toys, there is almost no English on the package. It’s all in Chinese. But what this really is, is a really cool knock off of the Generation 1 Devastator. Go figure. I had hours of fun playing with these at my desk at work transforming them when I was bored.

The only other English on the box besides Construction is the name of each combiner robot, the distributor, and the choking warning. The names are as generic as you can get(Building, Feeding, Picking, Sanitation, Ravage, Disguise). Wonder what genius figured out those names? Anyway, I lost this piece and I found it again at the Dollar Store. Guess they keep pumping out more of these, but I am glad they did.  I see some Spanish on these, so they must be selling it in Spain or Mexico too. Probably China too, seeing as there is Chinese all over it.

This is a fun piece to have and such a great price. I only ever had 2 of the original G1 Constructicons, so it is nice to have them all in this piece. I am wondering why they are still selling the Polyfect Construction after all these years. I am thinking Takara must have sold them rights to use the original molds as they look identical to the original Devastator. The quality is not that great(the plastic is cheap and the paint job is not that good), but now I feel much more comfortable transforming each of these as I did not spend a ton on these robots.

Sunstorm Masterpiece Edition MP-05 Hasbro

On a recent trek to Toys R’ Us I found a stack of Masterpiece Sunstorms. It was a pleasant surprise and they were fun to look at. I am afraid that the bright yellow color is so ugly, that I will never seriously consider adding this piece to my collection. Maybe if they blow Sunstorm out here on clearance for $30, but I will not be paying $79.99 to add this Toys R’ Us exclusive due to limited funds and space.

I do not have a Masterpiece Seeker in my collection and would love to add one of the other ones like Skywarp, Thundercracker, or Starscream, but Sunstorm is very low on my list. I wish they had chosen another robot for the Masterpiece edition. Say Shockwave or Arcee.  Instead they do a redeco of Takara’s Masterpiece MP-11 Starscream mold, which kinda tells me they are too lazy to make a new mold. They are really milking this one.  The sculpt is the same one they used on the Acid Storm and Thundercracker which were also Toys R Us exclusives as well. It is an amazing sculpt and I do not blame them for re-using it, but it would be nice to get some new original product. Maybe if they used the orange/goldish color in the first cartoon I would actually be interested in this robot.

Platinum Series Year of the Horse Optimus Prime & Supreme Starscream

I found these Platinum Series Optimus Prime & Supreme Starscream at the local Toys R’ Us. Both are repaints of previous releases, which is disappointing. You would think on the 30th Anniversary, they would provide us with some new products. I don’t care much for the gold grill on Optimus Prime, but it is a marvelous piece aside from that. I really do not understand why some robots are re-released in gold versions. They all look terrible.

I went through all my robots and found out I do not yet have a G1 version of Optimus Prime. I am sure they will issue another 2 or 3 in the next 5 years so I can wait. I am tempted to save up and buy the Transformers Optimus Prime 20th Anniversary Figure as I feel it is the best Optimus G1 figure I have ever seen.
Now the Starscream I am thinking about picking it up. It looks great as a robot and the ship it turns into reminds me of the Ark. Looks like this is a shared exclusive with Big Bad Toy Store. They are both nice pieces, but the boxes are so big. I am reluctant to add a piece with such a large box. I am sure if I had the space, I would have them all.

Soundblaster with Buzzsaw and Ravage Generation 1 Takara 2003 The Transformers Collection

Here’s Soundwave, one of the G1 Transformers I never had as a kid.  I had a loose one at some point but traded it.  This re-issue comes with two of the Decepticon tapes – “Laserbeak” and “Ravage.”  This is the Soundblaster version. Soundwave is upgraded to Soundblaster in later iterations of the cartoon.

I bought this in Japan at Mandarake, Akihabara branch for 52 dollars. If I were to buy him here, he’d be double the price, maybe more since I never saw him at Toys R Us when these were re-issued in the early 2000’s. I haven’t put any of the stickers because I’m afraid they will come off over time.

Reflector Transformers G1

Here’s a loose version of the Decepticon camera – “Reflector.” This is another one I never had as a kid but I was fortunate to pick him up loose for under 30 dollars. The color scheme in the toy looks different from the cartoon as the cartoon shows him as purple/green.

Jetfire Transformers Generation 1 Autobot Hasbro 1985

Here’s a picture of Jetfire – the Autobot air guardian.  He looks dramatically different from the cartoon.  He’s basically the same jet as the “Macross” series as they used the same mold. My cousin lent this one to me so that I could display it with the rest of the Macross collection.  I recall he had this as a kid but I don’t know if this is the original one – he may have re-purchased this one later on.

Insecticons Transformers G1

Here’s a set of Insecticons that I just got from Ebay. I think I only paid 30 -35 for the set.  I never had these as a kid but I want to get at least, all of the original 1st season Transformers G1’s.  There is also another group of Insecticons called the “Deluxe Insecticons” but they are have a different color scheme and they were never portrayed in the cartoon.  Below are the original three Insecticons -Kickback, Bombshell, and Shrapnel. I am really glad I have all 3 of them. Insecticons Transformers Hasbro Generation 1 G1 Kickback Bombshell Shrapnel

Thrust, Ramjet and Dirge “Coneheads” – Transformers G1

Here’s the 2nd set of planes issued for the Transformers G1 – Thrust, Ramjet, and Dirge. I didn’t realize they call these the “Coneheads” because their heads are like cones (although I’ve kept their nose cones down as I like them better that way).

Anyway, I just picked these up today.  I wasn’t originally a fan of these in the beginning as I liked the Autobot cars more but I had the original three planes from season 1 (see 3rd image – Starscream, Skywarp, Thundercracker) so I decided to get the next three (season 2) to complete the set.   These were not re-issued as part of the reissue series in the early 2000’s.

Evidently, there is another plane from season 1 called Sunstreaker that I have seen online but I don’t recall him as a kid.  I just found the sticker sheets for these planes for cheap and I’m hoping to get them soon as there are no stickers for the eyes, feet and wings so they look kind of barren at the moment.  The person I bought them from didn’t put the stickers because he said that over time, the stickers would come off anyway.
